Denise Heroux

Owner & Pet Stylist

Denise has 20 years of grooming experience. She is the owner of Awesome Paws and strives to provide a healthy working environment that promotes the growth of her employees to be able to provide the best and most up to date care to all our clients. She is training to be a Certified Master Cat Groomer through Professional Cat Groomers’ Association of America, is an active member of the International Pet Groomers Association, and International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She loves competing and has taken 1st and 2nd placements in “Rescue Me” Rodeos. She loves grooming all breeds, but especially enjoys terriers and cats. When not grooming, running her business and being a super-mom, Denise works with the local pet pantry to help with donations, and attends events to aid local pet charities.  She is owned by her Pit Bull, Parker and Standard Poodle, Bentley.

Jessica Ehrmentrout

Pet stylist

Jess attended the MCCC for Animal Care and is currently enrolled in the Vet Tech program at Tri-C. She hopes to acquire more standard breed haircut clients and improve her grooming speed. She has competed in “Rescue Me” Rodeo and placed 3rd. Her favorite breed to groom are Huskies. When she’s not grooming or doing school work, Jess likes to go hiking, work on scrapbooks, and read. She is owned by her husky Meeko, border collie Miley, a cat, two chinchillas and an axolotl.

Sam Heroux

Pet Stylist

Sam has been grooming for almost 10 years. She started grooming under the apprenticeship of Denise as a bather and has worked her way up to becoming an experienced, knowledgeable groomer. She hopes to continue her education in pet nutrition and learn more about skin and coat health to help her clients with allergies and be able to educate our clients about ways to prevent them. She is training to become a Certified Cat Groomer and is a member of the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She works well with dogs with behavioral issues and loves to help them overcome their grooming fears and build trust. She was awarded Best in Show for safe and gentle handling in her fist “Rescue Me” Rodeo and took 2nd place with a husky in “Rescue Me” Rodeo. Her favorite breeds to groom are big hairy double coats like Huskies, Malamutes, and Old English Sheepdogs, and Samoyeds. She also loves to groom Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Bernadoodles and Bichons and giving her haircut dogs a fluffy floppy more natural style. When she isn’t grooming she loves to travel and go on road trips with her husband to as many new places as they can, going hiking with her dogs and getting lost in a book. Sam is owned by her Golden Retriever Sawyer, Husky Leoben and Pit Bull Skyler, in addition to her cat Holly, and two rats!

   Amy esker      Bather     Amy has been working with dogs for 3 years, and loves learning the ins and outs of bathing and is looking forward to move up to trimming.  She enjoys working on all size dogs like Yorkies, Labradoodles, and Golden Retrievers.  She loves watching shy, nervous dogs become more comfortable with grooming and seeing how happy they are after being groomed.  Amy is owned by her Border Collie.

Amy has been a wonderful, hardworking bather for a year here at Awesome Paws. She has been working with animals for 3 years and attended the MCCC for Animal Care. Her main goals are to improve her skills with double coated dogs and continue her education in skin and coat health and pet nutrition. She loves to groom all breeds of dogs, but her favorites are hairy breeds like Golden Retrievers, Border Collies, Samoyeds and Huskies and smooth coated breeds such as Dalmatians, Labs, and Boxers. She enjoys coaching volleyball, dog walking and pet sitting and participating in church events outside of work. Amy is owned by her border collie.

heather Styers

Heather has been passionate for the grooming industry for 6 years but has worked with animals since childhood. She received her education through Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School and has worked in a corporate salon, veterinary hospital and doggy daycare. She hopes to become a competition groomer and receive her Master Groomer certification and Pet Aesthetician license. She is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America and the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She has competed in “Rescue Me” Rodeo and took 3rd place and hopes to continue competing with purebred terriers. Her favorite breeds to groom are Schnauzers and Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. She loves to learn new grooming techniques, but hand stripping and Asian Fusion are her favorite. Outside of work, she likes to hike with her dog, ride her horses and spend time with her ducks. Heather is owned by her Australian Cattle Dog, Kai, her 3 horses and her cat.

Nichole McCluggage

Double coat stylist

Nichole has been in the animal industry for over 20 years. She has been a professional horse groomer and braider for 15 years traveling up and down the east coast on the hunter jumper horse show circuit. Deciding on a career change to enter the grooming world, she has been with Awesome Paws since August of 2017 and has been a wonderful asset to our team as a bather and double coat groomer! She has goals to be a double coat specialist and do more haircut dogs as she learns and grows in her training. She is an active member of International Society of Canine Cosmetologists and is also on her way to becoming a Reiki Master Practitioner and use these skills to help rescue dogs. Since she has been with us, she has competed in “Rescue Me” Rodeo and received 2nd place! Her favorite breeds to groom are Shelties, Pomeranians, Australian shepherds and mixed breed dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time playing basketball and baseball with her sons, riding and training horses and showing and breeding goats. She also loves to garden, go hiking, fishing and camping, and research her genealogy.  Nichole is owned by her two horses, and two mini horses in addition to her 4 goats, 10 chickens, 2 cats and 4 dogs!

Kelly Hinkle

Kelly has been in the pet industry for 10 years and is an active member of the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She received her grooming education through the MCCC. Her goal for every pet she grooms is to keep them healthy, clean and happy. She has competed at state level and received 4th in poodle grooming and 8th in obedience handling. She loves to groom all breeds of dogs, especially Cocker Spaniels, and loves to work on breeds that require a lot of scissoring and blending work. When she’s not grooming, she likes to spend time training her animals, cooking, riding bikes and playing fetch with her cat. Kelly is owned by her two fish, two cats and a beagle.

Amber Fievet

Double coat stylist/ bather

Amber has been working with animals for over 10 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Equine Pre-Vet Sciences and has worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic. After graduating college, she entered the grooming world and hopes to successfully learn to groom a variety of pet dogs and eventually compete in the sporting dog division. Outside of work, she loves training young horses basic skills, preparing rocky mountain horses and hunter/ jumper horses for the show ring and teaching beginner-intermediate riding lessons. She also enjoys hiking, camping and doing agility with her Irish Setter, Seamus. Amber is owned by her dog and 3 horses, Cyrus, RJ, and Jimmy.

Hannah Artrip

Hannah has just been accepted into the animal care program at MCCC! She is very excited to begin her grooming education and learn to groom all breeds of dogs. Her favorite breeds are Shih-Tzus, Golden Retrievers, English Mastiffs, Pugs, Newfoundlands and Pomeranians. She is in choir at school, and enjoys being with her friends and her dog, and doing makeup and hair. Hannah is owned by her Chihuahua and mixed breed dog, and 2 cats.
