Denise Heroux

Owner & Pet Stylist

Denise has over 20 years of grooming experience. She is the owner of Awesome Paws and strives to provide a healthy working environment that promotes the growth of her employees to be able to provide the best and most up to date care to all our clients. She is training to be a Certified Master Cat Groomer through Professional Cat Groomers’ Association of America, is an active member of the International Pet Groomers Association, and International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She loves competing and has taken 1st and 2nd placements in “Rescue Me” Rodeos. She loves grooming all breeds, but especially enjoys terriers and cats. When not grooming, running her business and being a super-mom, Denise works with the local pet pantry to help with donations, and attends events to aid local pet charities.  She is owned by her Pit Bull, Parker and Standard Poodle, Bentley and -newest addition- puppy Pit Bull, Rory Pickles!

Diane Westfall

Receptionist

Diane has been in the pet industry for 10 years working at vet clinics. Passionate for canine agility, she loves to go to trials and learn new ways to train and handle. She enjoys taking her dogs Karma, Rue and Olive for walks and kayaking as often as possible. She is also owned by her 2 cats- Addie and Pancho, 5 finches, a bearded dragon and a box turtle.

Amy esker

Double coat stylist/ Bather

Amy has been a wonderful, hardworking bather for 2 years at Awesome Paws. She has been working with animals for 4 years and attended the MCCC for Animal Care. Her main goals are to improve her skills with double coated dogs and continue her education in skin and coat health, and pet nutrition. She loves to groom all breeds of dogs, but her favorites are hairy breeds like Golden Retrievers, Border Collies, Samoyeds and Huskies and smooth coated breeds such as Dalmatians, Labs, and Boxers. She has even taken 1st place in “Rescue Me” Rodeo with a double coated mixed breed. She enjoys coaching volleyball, dog walking and pet sitting and participating in church events outside of work. Amy is owned by her border collie.

heather Weidig

pet Stylist

Heather has been passionate for the grooming industry for 7 years but has worked around animals since childhood. She received her education through Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School and gained experience in a corporate salon, vet clinic and doggy daycare environments. She hopes to be a competitive groomer and receive her Master Groomer certification and Pet Aesthetician license. She is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America and the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists. She loves to compete, taking 3rd place, 2nd place and 1st place/Best In Show in “Rescue Me Rodeo”, and has won 1st place hand-stripping in Wire Coated Breed with a Cairn Terrier. She hopes to continue competing with purebred terriers. Her favorite breeds to groom are Schnauzers, Brussels Griffon and Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. She loves to learn new grooming techniques, but hand-stripping and Asian Fusion are her favorite. Heather is owned by her Red Heeler- Kai, and her 3 horses.

Madison Baker

pet Stylist

Madison has been a bather for 2 years and has gained experience through her time working in a vet clinic and being in 4H. She is beginning her journey to becoming a knowledgeable, efficient groomer and hopes to begin competing and offering hand stripping and quality breed standard cuts to her clients. Her favorite breeds to groom are Pomeranians, Golden Retrievers, and King Charles Cavaliers. Outside of Awesome Paws she enjoys live music and hiking and camping to relax with friends and family. She is owned by her 8 dogs, 12 goats, 5 chickens, a mini horse, a rabbit, a dove, 2 cats, 3 mice and a rat!

Hannah Artrip

Salon Assistant/Bather

Hannah is gaining her education through the animal care program at MCCC! She is very excited to continue her education and learn to groom all breeds of dogs. Her favorite breeds are English Mastiffs and Pomeranians. She enjoys being with her friends and family, and taking her dogs for walks and car rides. Hannah is owned by her Chihuahua and mixed breed dog, and 2 cats.

Laura Skillicorn

Bather/ Drop Coat Stylist

Laura has reentered the grooming industry after a 10 year hiatus to raise her family. She is excited to take on new challenges with us at Awesome Paws. She has gained her experience through business ownership of a boarding/grooming facility, working at vet clinics and through her children being in 4H. Her favorite breeds to groom are Chow Chows with tight booty trims, hairy de-shed dogs, drop coat dogs, and breed-standard pattern haircut dogs. Outside of work she enjoys gardening in her flower beds, refinishing furniture, hiking, horseback riding and caring for her farm. Laura is owned by 13 ducks, 40 chickens, 2 horses, 6 cats, 2 rabbits, a bird a snake a groundhog 2 dogs and her 3 human children!

Carolyn Grace

Salon Assistant/Bather

Carolyn is new to our Awesome Paws team, she graduated from Stautzenberger College in June, 2019 and is ready to begin her career in the pet industry. She would love to have her own pet related business someday and loves all breeds of dogs. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her two human children, camping, fishing and reading. Carolyn is owned by her 2 rescued cats.
